ONELINEDRAWING "THE VOLUNTEERS" LP/CD (JT1093) RELEASED TODAY

ONELINEDRAWING’S The Volunteers LP/CD (JT1093) finally hits stores today and after the release of 2002’s Visitor, Jonah Matranga returns with his strongest record to date. Filled with aching melodies, heart wrenching lyrics, and a distinctively more strident set list – The Volunteers finds Matranga honing in on the songwriter his many supporters have seen him for all along. As potent as it is touching, this record finally merges the spirit of ONELINEDRAWING’S earnest and energetic live show with a recording that truly captures what makes Matranga such a fan-favorite, gig after sweaty gig.

The disc includes liner notes by Geoff Rickly (Thursday) and features an enhanced portion that contains demo versions of album tracks as well as additional liner notes written by Matranga himself.

PEDRO THE LION "ACHILLES HEEL" CD (JT1095) NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER

PEDRO THE LION’S Achilles Heel (JT1095) is now available for preorder (Released May 25th, 2004) – both gorgeously austere and deceptively sweet, this adroit follow-up to 2002′s politically enraged Control was recorded in Washington State at the band’s home studio where longtime David Bazan collaborator TW Walsh was joined by multi-instrumentalist James McAlister (Ester Drang) as the group spent a solid month working on the album’s tracks. The end result is as musically mature as it is emotionally complex, a stunning culmination of the band’s graceful song-craft and Bazan’s well-honed laconic narrative. Achilles Heel is thoroughly imbued with the hopeful sadness that only PEDRO THE LION can, and do deliver.

By pre-ordering this record, you will be automatically entered to win a 15 Gig iPod preloaded with the entire Pedro The Lion catalog and both Jade Tree samplers!

JADE TREE AT MACRoCK

always comes just in time every year to wake us from our snowy slumber – originally conceived by WXJM, the JMU student-run radio station, as a college radio conference that would "strive to recognize lesser-known bands that are overshadowed by an industry dominated by corporate record labels and commercial bands," the format has grown to include more and more bands along with roundtable discussions that run non-stop throughout the weekend – this year is no different with tons of great bands (including many of our own), good people and a label expo to boot.

The fest runs April 2-3rd with the label expo on campus that Saturday from noon-5. So if you’ve been waiting for a good excuse to make your way out to Harrisonburg, VA (“the friendly city”) get your ass in gear and come say hello!
