STRIKE ANYWHERE: MAJOR NEWS UPDATE

Part 1. Japan

OK, by now everyone has heard that STRIKE ANYWHERE did not get into Japan while on tour as part of band’s 2003 Japan/Australia tour. Since the band has already written about this incident extensively on their website, please refer to Official Strike Anywhere site for the full story, or at least one side of it. STRIKE ANYWHERE guitarist Matt Smith and Jade Tree’s Tim Owen and Darren Walters did get into the country and were on hand to sell merch at the sold out Tokyo shows to the tons of disappointed fans, while tour promoter and Big Mouth Japan label owner Moto handed out refunds at the door. Moto and his friend Mei helped Matt, Tim, and Darren navigate the insanity of Japan and made sure that they were well taken care of during their weeklong stay.

Part 2. Australia

When everyone was finally reunited in Australia, there was a week of fun in Sydney that included seeing the Sydney Harbor, skating, petting Kangaroos and koalas, and fun filled nights out with the locals. As the tour took off in earnest, fans came out and showed STRIKE ANYWHERE lots of love and enthusiasm from beginning to end, with many people following the tour and making the long drives along with the band. The Australian part of the tour, which was a total of 10 dates, went better than expected and Graham Nixon from Resist Records is to be commended for all of his effort and support. Check out his site at Resist Records.

Part 3. USA

Suffering from serious jet lag, STRIKE ANYWHERE made a triumphant return to the USA, playing the west coast with label mates From Ashes Rise and generally raising hell up and down the coast. By time STRIKE ANYWHERE played in California, the band was super-tight and treated crowds to some of the best shows to hit Cali in a good long time.

Part 4. Exit English and the future

And now, as the boys prepare to release what is quite simply the most important record of 2003, they are at home spending time with loved ones and relaxing before hitting the road with The Bouncing Souls beginning in September and continuing throughout October, just as Exit English LP/CD (JT1087), which is currently available for pre-order, is released on September 30. This will be just the beginning of the STRIKE ANYWHERE onslaught, as the band prepares to take the rest of 2003 and all of 2004 by storm.
